The .mobi domain is aimed specifically at websites or applications designed to be viewed on mobile phones. We are now accepting orders for this domain as general release starts in 4hrs (11th October). Any company or individual can register a .mobi domain name but the web site or application hosted on them must be viewable using a mobile phone.

Companies that build a .mobi (mobile) site are recommended to follow the technical guidelines developed by the W3C mobile web initiative over the last year.

“.mobi is a trust mark,” said Mr Ronan Cremin from mTLD, the registry for .mobi. “If a user sees a .mobi address, they know that it will work on their phone”
