It's always exciting to be involved in a project which is breaking new ground. We enjoy a chance to learn new technology and add specialist skills to our portfolio. When John Chapman, director of Thru-Tone Media approached us with his idea we knew this would be a project we wanted to be a part of from the beginning.

John’s company has a long history of producing films and he wanted to use that experience to launch a platform for broadband television; making it easy for companies to broadcast through the internet.

Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) is still relatively new but is a rapidly growing market. Thru-tone Media wanted to create a platform which would allow them to quickly add new channels and partners with little online development. Each channel could launch the player from their own web page and keep their branding and identity.

On the surface our tasks revolved around using Windows Media player technology but the real power behind the system lies in the Editing Suite CMS. This system allow the administrators to organise and export channel lists, news and archive material - updating the player in real time through XML. This will also allow their planned desktop media application to automatically update with the channels and programs available.

The media player is looking fantastic, I have used it for two demos this week and it has gone down really well. Please pat your team on the back for me. The functionality of the archive and schedule page is great
