Instructions
We have attempted to make this keyword analysis tool as simple to use as possible but some elements may need explanation.
This tool analyses local text (.txt) documents and web documents both on and offline.

For writing local text documents we recommend the Open Source program, AbiWord which can be downloaded free of charge from the following location: www.abisource.com/. Alternatively you can use notepad which is found on all Microsoft platforms.
However AbiSource word processor offers many value added features over notepad such as spellchecking and text formatting.
Save your working document as a text file and then simply load it from with the e3KWD interface. You can then select analyse to view the current keyword density levels within your work. If you resave the working document you must press analyse again to reload and show the new keyword analysis results.
The program also analyses web documents (HTML, SHTML, PHP, ASP and CFM). These can be analysed online via the URL address bar. Alternatively you can load and analyse these documents locally.
![]()
For writing web documents we strongly recommend the TopStyle HTML Editor which contains powerful tools for helping to build XHTML/CSS standards-compliant sites.
Main interface
The result form each analysis test is presented here. Local documents made be opened within the program by using the load button. The analysis button must be pressed to process the document or to reload the document after changes.
Web pages may be loaded into the program using the URL bar. Simply type in the internet address of the specific page you wish to test.
The results in the main program window are viewed by keyword, count, density, prominence and tags. These columns can be sorted in their respective order by clicking the column title.
Count
This is the number of times that the keyword or phrase appears within the document.
Density
This figure represents the number of times the specific keyword has been discovered in the document, divided by the total number of words the program has found.
Prominence
We must give due credit to the consultants over at www.ranks.nl for this equation. Thank you for the work you have contributed within this area.
Prominence is the ratio of the position of one word or phrase to the positions of the other words in a text.
The formula they have suggested is as follows:
prominence = ($totalwords - (($positionsum - 1) / $positionsnum)) * (100 / $totalwords)
Where
$totalwords = total number of words in string
$positionsum = the sum of each position of the word we are analyzing (example: if a word occurs on position 2 and 5 $positionsum is 7)
$positionsnum = The number of positions
The prominence of one word in the first position, in a ten word sentence having unique words only is
(10 - ((1 - 1) / 1)) * (100 / 10)) = 100%.
If that same word would be the last word in the sentence, it’s prominence would be
(10 - ((10 - 1) / 1)) * (100 / 10)) = 10%.
If that same word would occur twice, on position 1 and 10, it’s prominence would be
(10 - ((11 - 1) / 2)) * (100 / 10)) = 50%
Tags
This column allows you to see which specific tags contain each keyword or phrase within the page or document.
A = Keyword found in alt tags
H = Keyword found in a header tag (H1, H2 …)
T = Keyword found in Title tag
L = Keyword found in links i.e. anchor text
D = Keyword found in META description tag
K = Keyword found in META keywords tag
Options
The e3KWD tool allows you to change the settings for each keyword density analysis. All settings will be remembered in all subsequent uses. If you have made changes to the settings please remember to press ok and then analyse in the main program window to reload your page with the new settings applied.
Ignore
This section allows you to specify which words you do not want the program to take into account. These can be added individually or loaded from a text file. For your convenience we have included a couple of stop word lists to help you. These can be found in the stopword-lists folder within the main installation directory. We have included a version of the default Google stopword list (google-stopwords.txt) and a more simple stop-word list (simple-stopwords.txt). Simply load one of these lists from that folder and select ok to use it within your analysis.
General
This is the general configuration area for the keyword density tool. You may choose to examine the keyword density of words or phrases within your document. You may also sort the results by phrase, density or prominence.
You are given the option to include or exclude Title, alt and META tags from your analysis.
If you choose the option for the tool to stay on top it will remain the first layered item on your desktop.
Proxy
If you connect to the internet via a proxy then you can use this section to enter your settings. In the vast majority of cases it will be unnecessary to use this section as your internet connection will already be configured.
Multilingual KWD Tool
Version 3.5 is now multilingual. We have provided English and Russian translations but it is very easy to customise the tool with your own language. All you need to do is to open the lang folder where you installed the program (usually C:\Program Files\e3internet\lang\). There you will find the text files for Russian and English, use one of these as a template for your own translation. Name your new text file, i.e. Cn.txt for Chinese and save it into that folder.
Then open e3KWD and go to the settings panel > General tab. There you can pick the language for the program.
If you have made a translation and you want to share, please send it to support@e3internet.com. We will include it in future releases and credit you on this website.

Hi,
Hey, you have a great software here for bibliometrics analysis, and all that for free!!! Thank you for that.
Is there a way to export the results to an excel or word document?
How can we save the results?
Thank you!

Hi Sandrea
Unfortunately there isn’t anyway to save the results at the moment, sorry. We have had that function on the user wishlist for a little while now. I’ll have another look at the program this summer and see how hard this function would be.
Of course if a company wants to sponsor that feature and get it implemented immediately, let us know.

Hi
Can you tell me why a .txt file with 995 words in it shows up in e3KWD under the Total words/phrases found as 634/1440
Is it only seeing 634 of the 995 words in the file?
Thanks
Darryl
